Students are introduced to —and complete— their first diagnostic and first module.
When starting Maths Pathway with a new class, it can be really helpful to begin with a rich task or two. After that, you kick off the first learning cycle, starting with a diagnostic. This lesson is a great way to introduce students to their first learning cycle.
This lesson helps students to:
- Understand what role the diagnostic plays in their learning
- Learn how to do their first diagnostic well - in a way which gives the best possible data
- Learn the basics of how to choose and complete their first module
The one-stop-shop resource for this lesson is the lesson plan which you can download here:
This lesson plan includes links to the two videos below, which give you a great overview of how the lesson runs. The first video is for the teacher to watch to prepare really easily for the lesson.
The second video is played to the whole class as part of the lesson.
